De illustratie van 'Knaldrang' is in opdracht van de Drumband Kon. Schutterij St.-Sebastiaan Sint-Huibrechts-Lille. Hun mars heet Knaldrang. Naar aanleiding van de 12de deelname aan het Wereld Muziek Concours te Kerkrade op 31 juli is een nieuw T-shirt ontworpen met de illustratie van Knaldrang.
De illustratie moest een ontploffing, een knal voorstellen. Ik heb dan gekozen om het meer in de stijl van een stripontploffing vorm te geven: een duidelijke, universele manier om een knal weer te geven. De muzieknoten en drumstokken vliegen naar alle kanten.
The illustration of 'Knaldrang' was commissioned by the Drumband (drum- and marching band) Kon. Schutterij (shooter's guild) St. Sebastiaan Sint-Huibrechts-Lille (Belgium). Their march is called Knaldrang. As a result of the 12th participation in the World Music Competition in Kerkrade on July 31, a new T-shirt has been designed with the illustration of Knaldrang.
The illustration was supposed to represent an explosion, a bang. I then chose to shape it more in the style of a comic strip explosion: a clear, universal way to represent a bang. The musical notes and drum sticks fly in all directions.
